A "meromorf" egyszerűen azt jelenti, amit az előbb leírtam: a függvény néhány szinguláris pont kivételével mindenütt, az egész komplex síkon vagy annak egy nagy tartományán tisztességesen viselkedik: korlátos, folytonos, diffható, sorbafejthető stb. Az előző hozzáállásban eredetileg szerepelt a "meromorf" szó, de aztán kihúztam...

A meromorf függvények érdekes tulajdonsága, hogy ha azt tudjuk róluk, hogy mily módon divergálnak a csúf, szinguláris pontokban, akkor ebből kiszámítható a teljes viselkedésük a rendes, reguláris pontokban. (Amint az ember hétköznapi viselkedését is döntően néhány kivételes nap - születés, érettségi, házasság, válás, betesgég - határozza meg. :)
