Az egyik lehetséges módszernek a következők a lépései:
-Protonnyalábot állítanak elő, amelynek energiáját úgy választják, hogy egy targettel ütköztetve főleg pionok és kaonok képződjenek.
-A pionok és kaonok jól kezelhetőek, kiszűrhető belőlük tetszőleges (nyilván korlátozottan értelmezve) energia és geometriai tartomány.
A pionok és kaonok ilyenfajta fókuszálása elektromágneses módon valóban véghezvihető.
-A kaonok és pionok bomlásakor neutrínók keletkeznek. A neutrínó-nyaláb szórása ugyan nagyobb mint az eredeti nyalábé, de elvileg előre kiszámítható keretek közé szorítható.

Tudjuk, hogy a neutrínókat nehéz detektálni, mert ritkán lépnek kölcsönhatásba más részecskékkel.
Kölcsönhatás alatt ilyenkor valamilyen bomlást értünk, amikor más részecskék keletkeznek.
Pedig talán léteznek anyagszerkezeti változással nem járó kölcsönhatások is.
(A neutrínók definíció szerint csak a gyenge kölcsönhatásban vesznek részt. Meg a gravitációsban, ami állítólag nem kölcsönhatás.)

Ezt egy hasonlattal próbálom szemléltetni...
Az átlátszó anyagok nem nyelik el a fényt, mert a fény (bizonyos hullámhossz tartományban) nem gerjeszti az atomok elektronjait. A foton energiája ilyen esetben nem egyezik meg egyetlen elektron-átmenet energiájával. De azt mégsem mondhatjuk, hogy semmiféle kölcsönhatás nincs. Az átlátszó anyagokból készített optikai lencsék eltérítik a fénysugarak útját. Elég nehéz lenne ezt nem kölcsönhatásnak nevezni. (Habár a szó "kölcsön-" előtagja arra utal, hogy visszahatás is van. Ha te engem szidol, én tégedet vimp.)

Talán valamilyen módon lehetne a neutrínókat is fókuszálni...
