Talán levegőben is mondhatnám ezt, ha a jármű csak Co2-t pufogna ki, mert az nehezebb a levegőnél, és végül lesüllyedne. De mivel ott a vízgőz is, ami meg könnyebb, ezért biztosan nem ilyen egyszerű a válasz. (Mi van ugye, ha a motor tiszta hidrogén égetésével üzemel).

Viszont ilyenkor azt hiszem, az van, hogy amint a jármű emelkedik, körülötte a levegő nyomása is egyre kisebb. Így a motor hatásfoka valószínűleg egyre növekszik, mert a hengerben a dugattyúra egyre kisebb külső nyomás hat, és a felrobbanó üzemanyag így egyre nagyobb munkát tud végezni a hengeren. Ez a Co2 égéstermék esetében is igaz, tehát annál sem csak a CO2 helyzeti energiájára fordítódik a plusz energia.

Vagyis ha helyes az elméletem, akkor itt az üzemanyag emeléséhez befektetett pluszmunka egy részét tényleg visszakapjuk hasznos energiaként.
