Ha egyszer egy nagy generátort elindítanak, az sokáig fog működni, tehát számolni kell azzal, hogy termelt áramot ki fogja elhasználni.
Ki kell centízni, hogy mikor mekkora a fogasztás és az honnan lehet beküldeni, nagyon nagy távolságokon vesztességek vannak, minnél nagyobb a feszültség a vonalakon, annál kisebbek. A magassfeszültségű hálózatok légi telepítése komoly anyagi és technikai kihívás (oszlop, alap, szigetelés, kábel- mindennek odaszállítása a telepítési helyszínre- jó út általában nincs, nagyméretű daru felállítása, nagyméretű teherjárművek mozgatása, stb).
A magassfeszültségű vezetékek elektrosztatikus tere számottevő, nem szabad utakat és településeket keresztezni, szóval ez egy bonyolúlt tervezési probléma is. Sajnos módósítani és javítani is csak feszültség alatt lehet, ezeket a vonalakat nem lehet soha kikapcsolni.
